Purdue University North Central is now offering a graduate certificate program In Economic Development .

Courses are offered on Monday at the PNC Westville campus from 2 to 5:50 p.m. The three-course sequence will be offered in 10-week modules, beginning Sept. 12 and ending in May, 2012.

The graduate certificate meets the needs of area economic development professionals and others who are interested in participating in economic development activities.

The program may be taken for credit, on a non-credit, continuing education basis, or students in the PNC MBA program may take the three-course sequence as three out of their four electives.

The registration fee for the credit option is standard PNC graduate tuition rates/fees. The non-credit option fee is $499 per module if purchased separately or $1,299 for the entire program.

The certificate is comprised of three courses. The first two provide an overview of the latest literature on regional economic development and a review and critical assessment of regional assets to attract and retain business investment. A final capstone class, as a simulation project, provides a hands-on opportunity for student teams to assemble a compelling case for a community in our region to attract a potential new investment project.
