PNC Honors Program Presents “The Biology of Inspiration” on Wednesday, March 25, 2015

purdue-north-centralThe Purdue University North Central Honors Program will present its first Honors Lecture, “The Biology of Inspiration,” delivered by Dr. Lindsay Gielda, visiting assistant professor of Biology, on Wednesday, March 25, at noon in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02. This event is free and open to the public.

In her lecture, Gielda will examine the idea that inspiration comes from the limbic system—the set of cerebral structures that integrate memory and emotion. But inspiration also originates from aspects of biology that we don’t fully grasp: the human spirit.

Gielda earned her PhD at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions, especially the innate immune response during pneumonic plague.

The PNC Honors Program seeks to enhance the learning experiences of highly motivated and academically exceptional students. To obtain further information about the program, visit www.pnc.edu/honors or email honorsprogram@pnc.edu.
