PNC Hosts Disc Golf Tournament

PNCPurdue University North Central will host its first-ever Spring Fling disc golf tournament on Sunday, April 1 at 10 a.m. The event will take place on the new 18-hole course located on the south side of the PNC campus, directly behind the baseball field.

The registration fee is $30, with all proceeds benefiting the PNC student-athlete scholarship fund. The registration fee includes a specially designed collector's mini disc, a hot dog cookout and PNC disc golf stocking caps for the first 50 registrants. There will be a cash -only snack cart available throughout the day.

The two-round tournament format is open to individuals and teams of all levels including novice, intermediate, advanced and pro. Registration is limited to the first 108 participants.

The tournament includes a commemorative wood-engraved disc for first place in each division and awards for closest to the pin and longest drive. There will also be a cash prize to the overall winner by handicap. A $5 "Ace Fund" can be entered on the day of the tournament for a hole-in-one.

The disc golf course is highlighted by a number of the Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series large-scale sculptures that have been integrated into the course, including Windfighter, by S. Thomas Scarff and Anatomy Vessel by Eric Nordgulen, featured at the first hole.

The tournament is co-sponsored by the Sports Development arm of the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
