PNC to Offer Non-Credit Short Story Workshop

PNCThe Purdue University North Central Office of Graduate and Extended Learning and Department of English and Modern Languages will offer a non-credit workshop series for anyone who wants to learn how to write effective short stories.

The program will meet Tuesday evenings from Oct. 7 through Nov. 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each week. The registration fee for community members is $139 and includes all materials. Special rates are available for PNC students, alumni and employees. The deadline to register is Sept.16 at 4 p.m. Writers of all interests and abilities are welcomed.

This program will be taught by award-winning author Lucrecia Guerrero, an experienced teacher of writing whose work has appeared in numerous journals, a short story collection and other works. Guerrero describes the program as beneficial for those who have a story to tell but may be overwhelmed by longer form writing or are attracted to the shorter form.

Participants will be led into writing short stories of 300 to 1,000 words through in-class writing exercises and mini lessons on craft.
