The Purdue University North Central Odyssey 13 Arts and Cultural Events Series will present the exhibit, "Inner Stillness: Captured Moments in Time" by Brett Maniscalco, from Jan. 9 through May 25 in the Library-Student-Faculty Building student lounge, Room 062 in the building's lower level. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Building hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Library-Student-Faculty Building is closed on Sundays.
Maniscalco's show features a collection of fine arts photography in color and black and white. Maniscalco lives in New Buffalo and works in Michigan City. He attended Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Mich., and has taught drawing and watercolor at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph, Mich.

His recent honors included the Twin Cities Camera Club Photography Award at the Michiana Annual Art Competition in St. Joseph, Mich.; the Ronald C. Miazga Memorial Purchase Award for black and white photography at the Midwest Museum of American Art, Elkhart, permanent collection; the Paul Dunne Award at Southern Shore Art Association and Honorable Mention for the United States in the Gala Awards Interregional Contest.
His work has been shown throughout the area - at the Button Gallery in Douglas, Mich., the Karen Kendall Gallery in Saugatuck, Mich., The Artisan's Wall in Stevensville, Mich.; Joanie's in St. Joseph, Mich.; The White Birch Gallery in New Buffalo and The Framing Station Gallery, Ryan Bolger Gallery, Shady Creek Winery and the LaPorte County Visitors Bureau, all in Michigan City.
Maniscalco described himself and his work, "I consider myself to be an artist who works with a camera, rather than as a photographer. As an artist, I want to share my view of the world with you. Good art should captivate you, move you, or inspire you. Hopefully at least one of my works has done all three."
