PNC Odyssey Series Features “Omnium Gatherum” Exhibit

Mindy-MariePurdue University North Central Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series is presenting the exhibit, "Omnium Gatherum" a collection of original art by local artist Mindy Marie.

"Omnium Gatherum" will be on display June 1 through July 31 in the PNC Library-Student-Faulty Building student lounge, Room 062. Building hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Library-Student-Faculty Building is closed on Sundays.

The show will feature a collection of more than 20 pieces of her dynamic and colorful abstract oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings.

Mindy Marie and artist Ginny Scott, who will have her exhibit "The Unseen" in the first floor, north study area of the PNC Technology Building, will be honored at a reception on June 13 at 5 p.m. in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02.Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and view their artwork. Refreshments will be served. On display in Assembly Hall is the show "Images From the Closet Trunk" featuring the work of Preston Jackson.

Music will be provided by Keith Scott on the acoustic guitar. A blues guitarist, songwriter and bandleader, Scotth has played professionally for more than 25 years in the United States and Europe. He has played with blues Legends such as Jimmy Dawkins and A.C. Reed and is a regular at Chicago's House of Blues.

Mindy Marie lives and creates her art in Michigan City. In this exhibit, she presents artworks that trace the artis't' specific understanding of how life is random, broad and full of many different things. Mindy describes that she has loved the arts since she was a little girl and always dreamed of being an artist.

She loves to capture ideas and images from what surrounds her, and believes that "art is not only beautiful to look upon; it is also beautiful to create"
