PNC Offers Non-Credit Video Editing Bootcamp

Video-EditingThe Purdue University North Central Office of Graduate and Extended Learning will offer a non-credit lifelong learning program, "Video Editing Bootcamp," sponsored by the PNC Department of Communication and PNC Panther News Network.

The program will meet Nov. 12, 13 and14 from 6 to 9 p.m. The registration fee for community members is $140 per person. The registration deadline is Thursday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m.

Participants will learn basic videography and editing skills, as well as other techniques necessary to create short videos that can be shared with a variety of audiences through various media, such as Facebook, YouTube, blogs and websites. The program will be helpful to anyone who wants to learn about videography, editing and producing quality video for personal or professional use. The program will be taught by Dr. Jeff Shires, PNC, associate professor of Communication, who explained, "In three short evenings participants will learn how to produce their own short stories."

PNC will provide participants with the video equipment and software needed to engage in this hands-on program. It is recommended that participants bring the devices they will be using to capture video footage so that they can learn how to maximize their capabilities as well. These personal video equipment might include camcorders, smartphones, camera phones, flip cameras and more.
