PNC Sets Enrollment and Credit Hour Records

Purdue University North Central set all-time enrollment and credit hour records this fall. The 2010 - 2011 academic year opened Monday, Aug. 23 with a record 4,614 students enrolled in a record 48,585 credit hours for the fall semester.

This represents a 3 percent increase in students and a 4 percent increase in credit hours over the fall semester of 2009. PNC

PNC students include 2,844 full-time students, marking the eighth consecutive year that the campus has registered a record number of full-time students.

Undergraduate students are taking an average of 10.6 credit hours each. In addition, the number of first-time, full-time, degree-seeking freshmen rose to 768 students, a 17 percent increase over the fall of 2009. The average PNC undergraduate student is 24 years old. There are 2,016 males and 2,598 females enrolled. There are 625 students taking 2,468 credit hours through the Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment program. This allows high school students to earn both high school and Purdue credits while they take classes in their high school during the regular school day. Enrollment in this program saw a 20 percent increase in students over that of fall 2009.

PNC has 1,728 students from LaPorte County and 1,857 students from Porter County.

PNC has 71 students enrolled in its Saturday Master of Business Administration program, offered at PNC - Porter County in Valparaiso.

PNC - Porter County also offers a full schedule of undergraduate courses. This semester, 607 students are enrolled in 2,960 credit hours of classes there.
