Purdue University North Central students in the Dean's Leadership Group are actively collecting donations so that they can present Thanksgiving food baskets to deserving PNC students.

The students are out on campus and in the community collecting monetary donations that they will use to shop for turkeys and traditional Thanksgiving food items that will be packed in the food baskets. Each basket will have enough food to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal for a family of five.

The 48 students in the Dean's Leadership Group are continuing a long-standing PNC tradition of providing Thanksgiving baskets to others.

"When I was a PNC student in the late '90s our class as a whole was encourage to bring in food for the baskets," recalled Keri Marrs Barron, PNC director of Student Activities and an advisor for the Dean's Leadership Group.

Students in the Dean's Leadership Group work throughout the year to help out in the community. The group will sponsor a Salvation Army Angel Tree on campus to collect gifts for children; they have taken part in the United Way Day of Caring, they volunteer with Rebuilding Together and they collected more than $100 for the United Way with a "Penny War" on campus. The group also hosted a recent Haunted Trail as well as a children's Halloween party
