PNC To Commemorate Veterans Day

Purdue University North Central will be host a Veterans Day program on Nov. 11 at noon on the University Plaza near the fountain. The event will honor all veterans, with special attention paid to PNC students, faculty and staff who are veterans. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served immediately following in Library-Student-Faculty Building,  Room 144. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be held in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02.

The featured speaker will be Captain Luann Barndt, commander of the Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan who will speak about veterans and education. Other who will be in attendance include State Senator James Arnold and Rich Mrozinski, LaPorte County councilman.

Other highlights of the event will feature the announcement of the campus initiative, "PNC: A Vet Friendly Campus." The founding PNC Veterans Club will be recognized by Chancellor Dr. James B. Dworkin. More than 100 current PNC students have served in the military and that number continues to grow. During the ceremony names of current or deceased veterans that have been submitted by PNC students, faculty and staff will be announced and honored. More than 40 names have been submitted to be read.
