PNC Women in Engineering & Technology Meeting

PNC-Garcia-SaenzPurdue University North Central Women in Engineering & Technology (WIE&T) will meet Thursday, Feb. 23, from noon to 1 p.m. in LSF Building, Room 170A for the celebration of the first 10 years of the program. The event is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be provided.

The program, "Overview of the past 10 years of the PNC Women in Engineering and Technology Program" will be presented by Martha Garcia-Saenz , PNC associate professor of Building Construction Management Technology.

The main focus of the WIE&T program is to encourage women to study Engineering and Technology through the creation of an environment that helps nourish them during the completion of their studies and helps to retain them in their chosen fields. The program is dedicated to recruiting and retaining female students to enrich the engineering and technology profession, making more equitable the gender participation in technology fields.

WIE&T encourages female students to succeed not only academically, but personally and professionally through seminars, talks, and discussions with guest speakers from alumni, industry, and academia. The mentoring portion of the program provides a "one to one" contact that allows students the opportunity to find support and ask questions and learn more about their chosen field.
