PNW Spring Class of 1,203 to Be Honored at 4 Commencement Ceremonies

Purdue-Northwest-colorPurdue University Northwest will honor a spring class of 1,203 graduation candidates during four Commencement Exercises Friday (5/5), Saturday (5/6) and Monday (5/8).

Ceremonies will be held at PNW’s Hammond Campus in the Fitness & Recreation Center at 3 p.m., May 5 for graduates of the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences; at 11 a.m., May 6 (College of Business and College of Technology); and at 3 p.m., May 6 (College of Engineering and Sciences and College of Nursing). The fourth ceremony will take place at 3 p.m., May 8 at the Westville Campus, honoring degree candidates from each of PNW’s five degree-granting academic colleges, in the James Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex.

Commencement addresses by 2 alumni
Two alumni will deliver the Commencement address. Indiana State Rep. David Ober (Class of 2009) will speak at all three Hammond ceremonies. Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. (Class of 1996) will speak at the Westville Commencement.

Purdue Northwest Chancellor Thomas L. Keon will present a Chancellor’s Medallion to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average from each college. Other distinguished baccalaureate degree candidates also will be recognized.

1,021 prospective baccalaureate graduates
PNW’s 2017 spring graduating class is comprised of 176 master’s degree candidates, 1,021 prospective baccalaureate graduates and six others expected to receive associate degrees. According to PNW’s Office of the Registrar, the anticipated number of Commencement participants are: 145 May 5, 237 May 6 (morning), 162 May 6 (afternoon) and 275 May 8.

Reception to follow
A reception for graduates, family, friends, faculty and staff will follow each graduation program—May 5 and 6 at Hammond in Alumni Hall of the Student Union & Library and May 8 at Westville in the Dworkin Center Great Hall.
