Porter County Animal Shelter Announces “February 50% Fee Feline Frenzy” Adoption Promotion

PCAS-February-Cats-Special-1The Porter County Animal Shelter has announced a special two week adoption program to find forever homes for homeless cats that have been housed at the Shelter since prior to December 1, 2011.

We have been very successful in finding homes for over two dozen cats in the last 6 weeks, but we have nearly three dozen homeless cats who have been at the Shelter for a long time,” explained Interim Shelter Director Jon Thomas.

Any of these cats would make wonderful pets, but for some unknown reason have been overlooked by potential adopters,” said Thomas, adding that some of the qualifying cats have been housed at the Shelter for over a year. “By reducing the adoption fee to only $17.50 for the qualifying cats, we hope to give them the attention that they deserve.”

Thomas highlighted Blacky and Anna, the two longest feline residents of the Shelter. Blacky is a black adult male domestic short hair who has been at the Shelter since January of 2011, and Anna is an orange and brown female domestic short hair who has been at the Shelter since February of 2011. “These are great cats that deserve a good home, and we just can't believe that there aren't loving families that would step forward and adopt them,” said Thomas.

PCAS-February-Cats-Special-2Here is how the adoption promotion works. Anyone who adopts a cat that has been at the Shelter since prior to December 1, 2011 will receive a 50% reduction in the normal $35 adoption fee, and as an added bonus will receive a FREE 2012 Porter County Animal Shelter Calendar (while supplies last). That is a $45 value for only $17.50, along with the added satisfaction of knowing that you've given a deserving cat a forever home. The promotion begins on Wednesday, February 15th and continues through Wednesday, February 29th. Cats that qualify for the program will have a special “I QUALIFY” notice on their cages.

The Porter County Animal Shelter has set up a special February 50% Fee Feline Frenzy photo album on it's Facebook page, which will contain pictures and information about all of the qualifying adoptable cats. Facebook users can view the album here.
