PCCF-Outstanding-Achievement-2012The Porter County Community Foundation celebrated its past year’s accomplishments and thanked the individuals and community partners who help make it all possible at its annual meeting on July 11 at Strongbow Inn.

Last year marked the Foundation’s 15th Anniversary. It has been an incredible journey,” said Barb Young, Porter County Community Foundation President. “We have grown from zero assets in 1996 to nearly $30 million at the end of 2011.” She added that the initial grant pool was $50,000, which came from Lilly Endowment. Last year alone, the Foundation awarded over $1.9 million in grants. “This was made possible because of the incredible generosity of our community.”

The remarkable work of nonprofit organizations was also recognized with the presentation of the 2012 Outstanding Achievement Awards. “Each year we are pleased to recognize the volunteers, nonprofit organizations and staff for their roles in building a stronger Porter County,” said Young.

Beth Wrobel, President and CEO of HealthLinc, for Outstanding Nonprofit Staff Member; Tim Rice from Lakeside Wealth Management for Outstanding Professional Advisor; Joanne Urschel, The Caring Place board member, for Outstanding Volunteer; and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County for Outstanding Nonprofit Agency.
