Porter County Community Foundation Presents Community Fund Grants to Volunteer Fire, Parents as Teachers

2013-Community-Fund-PATThe Porter County Community Foundation recently awarded Parents as Teachers and the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department each with a Community Fund grant check. The grants provide the nonprofit organizations with much needed funds for programs, projects and equipment.

Parents as Teachers is using their grant money towards expanding its “Ready, Set, Kindergarten” program with Portage Township Schools. The program is designed to help children develop the skills needed before they enter kindergarten. The grant money will help implement Ready, Set, Kindergarten in all eight elementary schools.

2013-Community-Fund-Volunteer-FireHebron Volunteer Fire Department is using the grant funds to update equipment that assists the firefighters in identifying the location of a fire within a structure. The 30-member volunteer department provides fire, rescue and BLS non-transport protection in Porter County to Hebron, Boone Township.
