Join us at the Porter County Museum on December 4, 2014, at 5:30 pm for the We Are Porter CountY Series: Hands on History event. Valparaiso University's Hands on History class has spent the fall semester researching the history of the Civil Rights Movement in Porter County. At this We Are Porter County Series Program, the students will present their research and share stories from the history of race relations in Porter County.

Holly Days at the Porter County Museum
Join in downtown Valparaiso's Holly Days celebration on December 5, 2014, at 5-7pm! The Porter County Museum will be open, the Valparaiso Women's Club will host their annual bake sale, the Great Lake Sound Chorus will sing holiday songs, and we will be joined by a very jolly guest!

Pearl Harbor Commemoration at the Porter County Museum
The POCO Muse will commemorate Pearl Harbor Day (December 6) with a presentation of personal accounts from those who first heard the news. Come to the Museum on Saturday, December 6 at 2pm to hear the stories and join in the discussion of this national memory.

Lakeshore Conversations: County Line Disscussion
What do you love about your community? What would you like to see change? How can we work together across county lines? You are invited to share your answers to these questions with residents from the South Shore region.

Come to 18th Street Brewery in Miller on Tuesday, December 9 at 6:30 pm to share your thoughts about what connects and divides those living along the Lakeshore. This guided conversation will cover challenging questions about the history of the region as well as celebrate the communities that create the stories of this area.

This program is part of the Ogden Dunes Stories Project, a series of programs and exhibits exploring and celebrating life along the lakeshore. The Ogden Dunes Stories Project is made possible by a generous grant from Indiana Humanities.

Sundays at the POCO Muse: Farewell to the Ogden Dunes Stories Project
The Porter County Museum says goodbye to the Ogden Dunes Stories Project on Sunday, December 14. From 1-4p, take a final walk through the award winning exhibit Life in the Hour Glass, the exhibit highlighting OD and Tillie Frank's lives in Ogden Dunes. At 2p, hear stories of community in the lakeshore town told by those who lived it.
