Porter County Sheriff’s Department Swears In New Officers

Piazza-Williams-115-and-116-swearing-inThe Porter County Sheriff’s Department has hired 2 new officers that will replace recent retirements. Michael Piazza and Zachary Williams were sworn in by Sheriff Dave Lain at the Merit Board meeting on Monday January 17th at 3:30 PM in the training room at the Sheriff’s Department. Piazza and Williams will attend the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Hobart for 15 weeks beginning on January 18th.

Michael Piazza is 25 years old and a graduate of Wheeler High School. Piazza was a member of the football team at Wheeler. Piazza has taken courses at Purdue North Central and Ivy Tech towards a college degree. Zachary Williams is 26 years old and a graduate of Chesterton High School and Indiana University Northwest. Williams wrestled throughout high school and is an assistant coach at Chesterton High School. Piazza and Williams both worked in the Jail Division prior to being hired.
