Porter Health Care System Introduces Physical Therapy for Incontinence Treatment

Porter has recently introduced Physical Therapy services designed to treat incontinence. According to Jennifer Heine, Porter’s physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor strengthening, the therapy works by using biofeedback, which can actually measure muscle performance in the same way that an EKG measures our heart function.

While it depends on the kind of incontinence, studies have shown that more than 75 percent of women can reduce their incontinence episodes through physical therapy,” said Heine. “These gains can improve a woman’s quality of life tremendously,” she added.

Physical Therapy services are available at Porter’s Portage facility. For more information, call 219.764.1053.
