To increase wellness education and the importance of preventive health screenings, Porter Health System will present a Community Health Fair from 3 to 6 pm on Thursday, June 2, at the Chesterton Medical Campus, 650 Dickinson Road, Chesterton.

According to Laurie Wehner-Evans, RN, MSN, director of Porter’s Community Relations, the Community Health Fair will feature the following free health screenings and education:
- Blood Pressure: Learn more about your heart’s functions and how important this number is.
- Total Cholesterol/HDL/Blood Sugar: Obtain your basic cholesterol and blood sugar numbers to learn more about your risk of heart attack and diabetes.
- Bone Density: Find out information related to your bone health and osteoporosis through an ultra sound of the heel.
- Pulmonary Function: Calculate your lungs’ ability to provide the oxygen you need.
- Nutrition: Learn the importance of healthy eating habits.
Additionally, participants will be able to see the Chesterton Medical Campus, meet physicians and staff and learn more about CareEXPRESS, a new walk-in style clinic located at the Chesterton Medical Campus. Information on starting healthy habits will be provided as well.
