Porter Health System to Offer Free Community Wellness Screenings for Adults at Boys and Girls Club

BGC-Porter-ScreeningsPorter Health System will offer free community wellness screenings at Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County-South Haven Club on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10:00a.m. -12:00 p.m. Porter Health System nurses will be on hand to conduct free screenings for HDL, total cholesterol and blood sugar for adults 18 and over. A 12-hour fast is recommended prior to screening. The community wellness screening is open to the public.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County is pleased to partner with Porter Health System in this effort to help keep our communities healthy. Laurie Wehner-Evans RN MSN from Porter Heath System says, “Cholesterol plays a major role in a person's heart health. High blood cholesterol is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and stroke. That's why it's important for all people to know their cholesterol levels.”
