Porter Health System’s Healthy Woman Program Presents “A New Option: Uterine Fibroid Embolization”

To help women learn about a minimally invasive alternative to hysterectomy and myomectomy surgery, Porter Health System’s Healthy Woman Program will present a free educational seminar entitled, “A New Option: Uterine Fibroid Embolization” by Amjad Alkadri, MD. The program will be held at 6:30 pm, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Porter – Education and Rehabilitation Center, 1401 Calumet Ave., Valparaiso.

According to Dr. Alkadri, Chairman of Diagnostic Imaging at Porter, uterine fibroid embolization is a minimally invasive alternative to surgery which reduces the risk, pain and recovery time to a traditional hysterectomy. After the procedure, performed by Porter’s Interventional Radiology team, the patient typically returns home the next day and can resume normal activities within a week.

Porter’s Healthy Woman program is a free community resource designed to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Program benefits for members include monthly health and lifestyle presentations, health resources and communications.
