Porter Health System’s Healthy Woman Program Presents “Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection of Alzheimer’s Matters”

To help individuals learn the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s, Porter Health System’s Healthy Woman Program will present a free educational seminar entitled, “Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection of Alzheimer’s Matters” from 3 to 4 pm, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Portage Township YMCA, 3100 Willowcreek Road in Portage.

During the presentation, Alzheimer’s Association Community Services Liaison, Louise Thompson, will explain how early detection, diagnosis and intervention of Alzheimer’s disease are vital to provide individuals with the best opportunities for treatment, support and planning for their future. The evening will feature a brief video presentation highlighting “real” people living with the early stages of dementia, address some of the fears and myths associated with Alzheimer’s disease, and be followed by a question and answer session

Additionally, to recognize National Memory Screening Day, free, confidential memory screenings will be conducted that morning from 9 am to 1 pm at the Portage Township YMCA.

Porter’s Healthy Woman program is a free community resource designed to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones.
