To learn how to creatively incorporate the daily recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables into your diet, join Porter’s registered dietitian Jill Kilhefner, RD, CD, as Porter Health System’s Senior Circle Program presents “Getting Your 5-A-Day.” The program will begin at 2 pm, on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at Taltree Arboretum and roundtrip transportation by bus is available for $2 per person. The bus will leave Porter’s Education & Rehabilitation Campus, 1401 Calumet Ave., Valparaiso, at 1:30 pm.
During the presentation, Kilhefner will uncover creative and delicious ways to increase the fruits and vegetables in your diet. “Not only is eating five or more servings of fruit and vegetables a day nutritionally sound,” says Kilhefner, “these foods are naturally low in fat and sodium, high in fiber and can help keep your blood pressure under control.” Recipes and samples of some of her ideas will be available.
