Porter Regional Hospital Healthy Woman Recipes: Strawberry-Kiwi Spritzer

kiwiIt's hot outside. Summer is upon us and we need a way to stay cool and hydrated. Why not try a refreshing strawberry-kiwi spritzer? This cool drink is gluten free, gout-friendly, low in sugar and high in taste. Strawberries are packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium, folic acid and fiber; and kiwi has lots of vitamin C, vitamin E, copper, vitamin K, choline, magnesium and phosphorus so this is a healthy and delicious drink that you can have anytime. You won't believe how easy it is to make!

Ingredients:

1 kiwi fruit
1/2 cup strawberries
About 3/4 cup plain seltzer (club soda without sodium)
Ice cubes
Directions

Peel the kiwi and mash it in a strainer over a glass or small bowl. You should get about 2 tablespoons of tart juice. Wash and stem the strawberries and mash the juice through the strainer. Pour juice mixture over ice in a fancy glass. Top with seltzer and enjoy.

Serves 1

The serving contains about 30 calories, 1 g protein, 0 g fat, 10 g carbohydrates, 2 g fiber, and 1 mg sodium.
