Valparaiso’s Memorial Opera House will present the musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” for a one evening benefit for Porter-Starke Services Foundation on April 12.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the $50,0000 goal of the 2012 Changing Minds Campaign.
The musical is a good fit for a Porter-Starke fundraising event because it is about relationships and emotions.
“It definitely fits in with our mission, and laughter is good medicine,” explained Messica McFadden, Coordinator for the Porter-Starke Services Foundation.
“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” is the second-longest running Off-Broadway musical and offers insights into dating, marriage and relationships that are simultaneously funny and poignant.
“From the first words said on a first date to the last breathe of your love's life, it finds the ‘funny’ in every high and low of relationships and love,” said Drew Nellessen, the director of the Opera House production.
The regular run for the musical will be from April 13 through April 22 with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.
“It highlights all the awkward, funny, heartfelt, and serious moments that love brings along with it. It’s one of those shows that you hang on every lyric and song, because you don't want to miss anything,” said Nellessen.
The cast of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” includes; John Peluso, Colleen Archer, Jeff DeBoer and Amy Franklin. Musical direction is by Jim Mollin.

Funds raised for Porter-Starke’s Changing Minds Campaign are used to support discounted care, adolescent addiction treatment, community scholarships and other programs.
