Power of Youth Walk for Awareness

The Power of Youth is helping to celebrate the grand opening of the new Porter Starke facility in Portage. POY-300x163This is a way to acknowledge a nonprofit that is helping treat teen substance abuse and raise awareness of the issue.

Our goal for this walk is to raise $4000 which would allow us to meet our goal of $8000 for the 2009/2010 school year. The walk is June 7th at 3176 Lancer St. Portage, IN 46368. But walkers are needed desperately.

The students have gotten quite a few of their peers to walk, but we want adults as well. The teens know about the drugs, it's the adults in my mind that are unaware of how bad the problem is. We have a company match form and we are hoping to get businesses to encourage their employees to walk and take their children if they have any. Each walker raises pledges and anyone raising at least $25 gets a power of youth "walk for awareness" t-shirt, designed by the council. We'd like to see the local businesses match the amounts their employees raise or match one of the power of youth students.

Visit: The Power of Youth website for your pledge form. Walkers that raise a minimum of $25 will receive a t-shirt. Want to have your company name on the t-shirt? EMAIL us by May 14th, 2010.

Water bottle sponsors are needed as well. Companies can help as well by matching walkers pledges. Print the contribution form and fax that back to 219-477-5845 by May 28th, 2010. Encourage your employees to walk as well. Businesses that walk as a team are encouraged to wear company shirts or polos.

ALL WALKERS MUST REGISTER SOON!
