vhs-gymnastics-action-2014Culver 30, Marquette 20 (Boys Basketball 'C' team)

The Marquette Catholic Boys Basketball 'C' team returned to action on Wednesday evening when they traveled to Culver to take on the Eagles. The Blazers were not able to get into an offensive rhythm and struggled, losing the contest 30-20. The 'C' team concludes their season Monday, February 17 when they travel to Hobart High School. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

Valparaiso 112.27, Portage 109.82 (Gymnastics)

Visiting Valparaiso defeated Portage on Wednesday night 112.27 to 109.82.

Danielle Solis tied the vault record with a 9.825 and broke the floor record with a 9.85 for Portage. Danielle also won all-around with a 37.975, and won vault and floor and took second on beam. Madison Kurtz took third all-around and on bars and beam.

Valpo won the JV match as well, 102.2 to 86.1

Portage 29, Michigan City 28 (Boys Basketball 'A' team)

The Portage High School freshman boys “A” team finished strong with a big win over a very good Michigan City team, 29-28. Mike Delgado scored nine points. Mike Davis also scored nine, including the game winning put back with five seconds left. The Portage 'B' team lost a hard fought game 37-30. Jaime Roman led the team with 14 points.
