Michael Varda and Bobby Barden provided singles victories for La Porte, who is now 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the Duneland Athletic Conference. Travis Upp and Brogan Briggs gave the Slicers the win at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.

Chesterton’s Matt Jewison won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2 while the Trojan tandem of Chris Fouts and James Jewison were victors at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-2.

Chesterton won the junior varsity meet, 6-0.

Valparaiso 4, Merrillville 1 (Boys Tennis)

Derek Wappel (No. 1) and Eric Yankes (No. 3) were singles winners for host Valparaiso. Andj Lehnen and Alex Yainkes (No. 1) and Juan Gill and Caleb Owens (No. 2) teamed for doubles wins for the Vikings.

Steffan Santiago was the lone victor for Merrillville, taking a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

Marquette 4, Wheeler 1 (Boys Tennis)

Hunter Moldenhauer and Patrick McDonnell were singles winners for Marquette. Justin Smith and Bobby Jaffee (No. 1) and Liam Roder and Jacob Schmidt (No. 2) both teamed for doubles wins for the Blazers.

Valparaiso 8, Michigan City 0 (Girls Soccer)

The Vikings routed Michigan City on Tuesday behind two goals apiece from Becca Riley and Kelly Landry.

Brook King saved 18 shots for Michigan City.

Valparaiso 5, South Bend Adams 3 (Girls Soccer)

Marcelle Manatrey had a hat trick and an assist for Valparaiso in their win on Saturday. Kelly Landry (1 goal, 2 assists) and Lexi Ferngren (1 goal, 1 assist) also netted points for the Vikings. Cami Holford had eight saves in net.

Marquette 3, Wheeler 2 (Boys Soccer)

Ian Wood netted a pair of goals for the Blazers, who got a boost with 11 saves from John Roder.

Pablo Balcazar and Len Islas both scored for Wheeler.

Marquette won the junior varsity game, 2-1 in a single 40-minute session.

Valparaiso 187, Michigan City 229 (Girls Golf)

Jennifer Gough led all scores with a 45 for Valparaiso at the Valparaiso Country Club front nine (Par 37). She was followed by teammates Brooke Fullenkamp (46), Lauren Caputo (46), Elise Lee (50) and Ema Gilliana (51).

Michigan City (2-4, 1-3 Duneland) was led by Claire Werner’s 51. Following Werner were Tara Seizys (53), Allie Mellen (61), Maggie Seizys (64) and Thespina Dabagia (81).
