Host Valpo raced out to a 19-7 lead after one quarter and held on for the season opening non-conference victory. The Vikings were 18-for-46 from the field and hit three of their 10 attempts from three-point range.

Valparaiso 53, Kankaee Valley 16 (JV Girls Basketball)

The JV Vikings shot 43 percent from the field and knocked down five three-pointers in the win.

Argos 37, Marquette Catholic 17 (Girls Basketball)

The Blazers made a rally in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to offset a slow start. Argos also won the JV game, 41-26. The varsity Blazers return to action on Thursday in the CCHS Tipoff in Demotte, where they will play the host Covenant Christian at 7 p.m. in the opening round game.

La Porte 67, New Prairie 34 (Girls Basketball)

Nicole Konieczny paced La Porte with 24 points, connecting on four shots from beyond the arc. Kyleigh Kubik added 14 points for the Slicers, who were led in the rebounding category by Jocelyn Colburn (9) and Savannah Vaughn (8).

La Porte 61, New Prairie 36 (JV Girls Basketball)

Olivia West had 23 points to lead La Porte in the win.

Bishop Noll 55, Highland 54 (Girls Basketball)

The visiting Warriors mounted a comeback in the season opener for both teams. The Trojans led 35-18 at halftime.
