The Marquette Catholic High School girls basketball team played well defensively early on, but suffered the conference defeat at the hands of Wheeler, who enacted an effective full-court press that held the Blazers to less than 20 points.

D'Aria Kincaid had 13 points to lead Marquette, while Saroyah McNeal Johnson added two.

The team will be in action again on Saturday, December 14 with an away game against La Crosse. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

Crown Point 125, Valparaiso 61 (Girls Swimming)

crown-point-bulldogs-logoVisiting Crown Point prevailed in the DAC dual meet thanks in part to a victory in the 200 meter medlay. With a finals time of 2:09.70, the Bulldog team of Abby Wellman, Alex St. Amour, Racheal Bukowski and Hannah Kukurugy finished five seconds ahead of their closest competitior, which was another Crown Point relay team.

The Bulldogs also had several individual winners, including MacKenzie Artin in the 200 meter free with a finals time of 2:14.59 and Kelsi Artim in the 100 meter backstroke with a finals time of 1:11.18.

Valparaiso took the loss despite a first place 1 meter dive from Taylor McBride, who scored a 173.20 in the final round.

Crown Point 104, Valparaiso 82 (Boys Swimming)

The Crown Point 200 meter medlay team of Greg Logothetis, A.J. Huls, Taylor Schooler and Cameron Watson paced the Bulldogs to victory with a 1:57.63 finals time. Other individual winners for the Bulldogs included Joey Karczewski (200 meter free), Schooler (50 meter free) and Sage Chiaro (1 mtr diving).

Valparaiso was defeated despite a win in the 200 meter IM by Andrew Antonetti, who clocked a finals time of 2:13.36.

Kankakee Valley 68, Hanover Central 55 (Girls Basketball) 

kankakee-valley-kougars-logoBreanna Toppen had 22 points and Ashley Norberg added 16 for Kankakee Valley (4-3), who also outrebounded Hanover Central 37-28 in the win.

Bethany Jansma chipped in 13 points for the Kougars.

With the loss, HC falls to 3-4.

KV also took the junior varsity game by a 50-30 final.
