From 4:00 – 8:00 pm this Thursday, December 5, local shops and restaurants will be participating in Duneland’s second Progressive Open House event. Coordinated by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce, the shopping and dining tour will feature $5 food and drink specials, product sales and extended shopping hours for a single evening of vibrant holiday shopping across Chesterton.
Retailers participating in this self-guided shopping and dining tour include Alice’s Garden Toy Boutique; Ashley’s Jewelry by Design; Chelle’s; Coco’s Canine Cabana (featuring an adoption event with Lakeshore Paws!); Flashbacks at Main Street Shoppes; Flower Cart; Framing Concepts; Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness (featuring an extension of the Get Fit Kits Black Friday Sale!); House of Berggren; Indian Summer Boutique; Molly Bea’s Ingredients (featuring 20% off one bulk item plus one small gift per shopper!); O’Gara & Wilson, Ltd. Antiquarian Booksellers; Rita Jackson Sculptor; Sweetville; and Weekends at Main Street Shoppes.
Additionally, the Duneland Chamber of Commerce building (located at 220 Broadway in Chesterton) will be open until 8:00 pm, and staff members will be on hand to give out cookies, hot cider and maps listing all shops and restaurants participating in the Progressive Open House. Beginning at 4:00 pm on December 5, the first ten shoppers to visit the Chamber for tour maps will each receive a $5 Chamber Gift Certificate, which may be redeemed for food, drink or products during the course of the evening at participating locations. Guests can begin shopping while still in the Chamber building, where the following will be selling their products: Harvest Circle Workshop (offering Duneland-famous protein balls and granola!), Hot Diggity Dawg (offering beautiful holiday gift baskets!) and Velvet Skin Spa/Get Clear Acne Clinic (“Twelve Days of Blissness” facial packages and $10 on-site eyebrow wax/definition!).
While following the Progressive Open House tour maps, shoppers are encouraged to stop in the following eateries to enjoy $5 food and drink specials: Butler Winery (offering free wine tasting!), Tonya’s Patisserie and Popolano’s Italian Restaurant. “Shoppers can check off their holiday lists, support local businesses, and then enjoy delicious specials at Butler, Tonya’s and Popolano’s,” says Heather Ennis, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “We’ll have Christmas music playing downtown, as well, so the evening should be a thoroughly enjoyable (and productive!) change of pace from the frantic mall shopping that always threatens to undermine the holiday spirit. We’re excited to welcome shoppers to the Chamber for cookies, hot cider and maps on December 5!”
