PTSC Update: Digital Citizenship Parent Resources

PTSC-Update-Digital-Citizenship-Parent-ResourcesRecently I attended a conference and went to a session on digital citizenship. Through part of my exploration of the topic, I found some great parent resources that I immediately wanted to get into your hands. I have met some parents that have been using this resources and have found them extremely valuable, and I hope you will as well. There's a lot to explore through Common Sense Media, but here are some links that I found most helpful:

Advice for Parents: This section has many video tutorials to teach you about some things kids are using so you can understand what they do. If you don't know what Kik Messenger is, you can find a video that will teach you about it (and many other apps). One could spend hours on this page alone as there are tons of resources.

Educational Apps and Games: Ever wish you had a place to go to read reviews of games and apps that also rate appropriate age level use? This is your link! Set your search criteria to find a great fit for your child.

Movie Reviews: Ever wonder if that movie is going to be too scary or have themes that are not appropriate for your child's age? This is a great resource and I have heard many parents rave reviews about using this tool.

TV Reviews: Similar to the tool above, this is another great resource.

Game Reviews: One thing I like about this website is that it keeps up-to-date with the latest releases. Make sure to click on the game title to read a more in-depth review.

Parent Blog: Articles are posted on relevant topics to help parents navigate these tricky subjects. You can search by topic, by age, and you can also enter your email to follow the blog to receive notification of the most up-to-date posts.

I hope you will take time to explore these resources. Navigating the digital world as a parent can be tricky. It's great to have tools like these to help guide you along the way!
