Public Compost Sites Close for Labor Day Weekend

recycleThe Valparaiso compost site, 2150 W. Lincolnway, and the Boone Grove compost site, 546 South 400 West, will be closed to the public Saturday through Monday, Sept. 3 through 5, for Labor Day weekend.

The Valparaiso site will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Boone Grove site will reopen at noon Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Porter County residents can use the sites to recycle the following materials: yard waste/organic waste, household batteries, electronics, fluorescent light bulbs, toner cartridges, cell phones and media (video and audio cassettes, CDs, etc.). Mulch is available at both sites while the supplies last. Finished compost is currently not available.
