Purdue Calumet defeats Adrian College, 6-3

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet women’s tennis team rebounded from a tough loss Friday with a solid 6-3 nonleague victory over previously unbeaten Adrian College Saturday.

The Peregrines won three straight-set matches at singles and captured two of three doubles matches to improve to 3-2 on the season. Purdue Calumet fell on the road at North Central College Friday, 6-3.

Lori Haas (Bismarck, Ill./Bismarck-Henning), Amber Haworth (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point), Ashley Pabey (East Chicago, Ind./E.C. Central), and Abby Kvachkoff (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) won at singles spots 1-4, with Haworth picking up perfect 6-0, 6-0 set wins.

Haas and Haworth and Pabey and Kvachkoff also teamed up at No. 1 and 2 doubles for victories. Haas and Haworth battled out a 9-8 victory over Adrian’s Kylee Bezeau and Arielle Williams by winning the tiebreaker, 3-0, while Pabey and Kvachkoff defeated the duo of Morgan Spencer and Justine Hanson, 8-3.

Purdue Calumet completed its fall schedule with Saturday’s match, with the championship season set to start in the spring of 2015.
