Purdue Calumet Earns 5-Seed; Will Travel to 4-Seed Roosevelt for CCAC Tourney Opener Saturday

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet men’s soccer team will travel to Chicago, Ill. for the opening round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday against Roosevelt University.

The 5-seed Peregrines (10-6-1, 7-3-1) will take on the 4-seed Lakers (13-5, 8-3) at 5 p.m. Saturday at the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames Field. The complex is located at 901 West Roosevelt Road Chicago, Ill.

Purdue Calumet will play in its first CCAC Tournament match since the program was reinstated in 2012 after a nearly 15-year hiatus.

The winner between the two teams will travel to Bourbonnais, Ill., to take on the No. 1-seeded Olivet Nazarene Tigers in the CCAC Tournament Semifinal Wednesday, Nov. 12.

LAST TIME VS THE LAKERS: Purdue Calumet defeated Roosevelt 1-0 in in double overtime Oct. 22 off a goal by senior Victor Garcia (Whiting, Ind./Clark/South Suburban) in the 105th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Miguel David (Spring Valley, Calif./Bonita Vista) had three saves in the game.

PEREGRINE LEADERS: David is third in the CCAC with goals against average (1.02) and second in the CCAC in save percentage (.795). Junior Papa Otoo (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River) leads the Peregrines' offense with seven goals this season.

Saturday's other CCAC Tournament matches include No. 6 Holy Cross College at No. 3 St. Xavier and No. 7 Cardinal Stritch at No. 2 Judson.
