Purdue Calumet Inks Huntington Native Evan Huntley

PUC-Purdue-Calumet-Inks-Huntington-Native-Evan-HuntleyPurdue University Calumet head baseball coach Dave Griffin added another recruit to his 2016-17 class with the signing of Huntington native Evan Huntley.

“He’s a left handed control pitcher who will come in and battle for a bullpen spot,” Griffin said.

“Evan has high pitch ability and a good command of the strike zone including three pitches he can throw for strikes at any time. I am very excited to see him compete in the fall.

The 5-foot-11 southpaw was a two-year letterwinner at Huntington North High School, a member of the 4-H club for 10 years and will graduate with academic honors.

Huntley recorded 10 starts for his summer ball club, where he earned a 6-2 record, 2.39 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 53 total innings pitched.

The son of Christine and Brian Carpenter, Evan plans to major in accounting.
