Purdue Calumet Sustains Three-Set Loss at St. Francis (IL) Tuesday

PUC-PeregrinsAkeelah Muhammad had eight kills and Gabrielle Martin added seven kills in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference setback on the road at St. Francis (Ill.) Tuesday night.

The Fighting Saints (15-12, 7-2) defeated the Peregrines (6-14, 2-7) in three sets, 25-15, 25-15, 25-20.

Muhammad (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom Township/Kishwaukee) led the Peregrines with a .316 attack percentage, recording eight kills on 19 attacks with just three errors. Martin (Kankakee Valley, Ind./Kankakee) added four digs in the loss.

Senior Kelly Duke (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg/Ancilla) recorded a season-best four kills on 12 attacks and added four digs, and libero Samantha Basar (Plainfield, Ill./North/Kishwaukee) tallied 10 digs defensively. Setter Haley Smith (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley) added 18 assists for the Peregrines.

Caleigh Hill led the Fighting Saints with eight kills and Megan Mowery had 25 assists for St. Francis.

Purdue Calumet returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 14 when the Peregrines host CCAC rival Purdue North Central at the Fitness and Recreation Center beginning at 9 p.m.
