Purdue Calumet to Open Up Home Slate with Stritch Thursday at Dowling Park

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet softball team's originally scheduled road contest at league foe Cardinal Stritch Thursday has been moved to Dowling Park, as the Peregrines open up play at Fifth Third Bank Field.

The Peregrines (6-3) will take on the Wolves (19-5) in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday at Dowling Park, located on J.F. Mahoney Drive next to the Jean Shephard Community Center.

The address for Jean Shephard is 3031 J.F. Mahoney Drive. Admission to all Peregrine softball and baseball games is free.

Purdue Calumet is set to open its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference season against Olivet Nazarene this afternoon in a twin bill in Bourbonnais, Ill.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
Cardinal Stritch enters Thursday’s contest off a split weekend trip in Missouri March 14-15. The Wolves dropped two games to Evangel March 14 before bouncing back with a sweep over Culver-Stockton. Gabi Palacios leads Stritch at the plate with a .414 average and 18 RBI, while Tori Burke (0.86 ERA) and Shannon Caliri (7-0, 1.11 ERA and 58 Ks) lead the way in the circle.

SERIES HISTORY
Purdue Calumet owns a 2-0 advantage over the Wolves, sweeping a doubleheader 4-1 and 5-4 played in Munster, Ind., last season to cap the Peregrines’ season.

PEREGRINE LEADERS
Senior Ashley Adams (Lafayette, Ind./ Central Catholic) leads the Peregrines at the plate with a .625 average with 10 hits, six RBI, and a home run, while teammate Kaitlyn Skarecky (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) is batting .467 with 14 hits, six RBI and a home run. Senior Alison Kimble (Greenup, Ill./Cumberland) leads the way in the circle with a 3-2 record and 2.00 ERA to go along with 41 Ks in 35 innings pitched.
