Purdue Men’s Basketball to Host Full Slate of Summer Camps

purdue-logoThe Purdue men’s basketball program will host a variety of camps during the month of June as part of the 2013 Matt Painter Basketball Camps schedule.

In addition to instruction from the Purdue coaching staff, the Matt Painter Basketball camps feature a number of current and former Boilermaker student-athletes.

The Matt Painter Basketball Camps slate will begin with Day Camp, which runs from June 3-6. Open to participants from grades 1-9, Day Camp is designed to teach young players the basic fundamentals of shooting, ball handling and passing, while emphasizing both skill development and team play.

The annual Father/Son Camp has been scheduled for June 15. Each father/son team will be instructed on proper technique in shooting, ball handling and 1-on-1 play. The camp emphasizes skill development, while giving fathers and sons an opportunity to spend quality time in a unique setting.

The Matt Painter Basketball Camps will once again offer two Player Development Camps, with the first running from June 9-12 and the second to be held from June 23-26. At the residential/commuter camps, participants are instructed in advanced offensive skills in addition to reinforcement of the game’s fundamentals. Take-home drills are designed to help campers increase their level of play.

The Purdue coaching staff, with the help of current Boilermaker players, also simulates practice and individual workout settings, as well as talk about the importance of off-court preparation.
