Purdue Men’s Basketball To Visit Clemson In ACC – Big Ten Challenge

purdue-logoThe Purdue men’s basketball team will visit Clemson on Wednesday, Nov. 28, as part of the 14th-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods. ESPN announced the lineup on Monday in a joint release with both conferences.

After hosting Miami in last season’s event, the Boilermakers will take to the road in the Challenge for the second time in three seasons. Purdue claimed a 58-55 overtime victory at Virginia Tech in 2010.

The Boilers are 1-3 all-time against Clemson, including a 1-1 mark in ACC/Big Ten Challenge games. Purdue earned a 76-64 win over the Tigers at Mackey Arena in 2003, and Clemson picked up a 61-58 victory at Littlejohn Coliseum in 2007. The 2007 Challenge game was the last meeting in a series that dates to 1971.

Purdue will be looking for its fourth-straight conference win, having defeated Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Miami, respectively, in the last three seasons. The Boilermakers are 5-6 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Game times and ESPN platform designations will be determined and announced at a later date. All 12 games will also be available via WatchESPN, which delivers live access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3 on PCs, smartphones and tablets to fans who receive ESPN’s linear networks as part of their video subscription from Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks or Verizon FiOS TV.

In 2011, the Big Ten won its third-straight Commissioner’s Cup by an 8-4 margin. In the event of a 6-6 tie this season, the Big Ten will retain the cup.

Purdue returns eight letterwinners from last season’s squad that went 22-13 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Boilermakers’ streak of six-straight 20-win seasons is tied for the longest in program history, and Purdue is one of just 11 programs across the nation to reach the NCAA Tournament in each of the last six years. The Boilers also welcome in a recruiting class widely considered to be one of the nation’s top 20 incoming groups.

Purdue will take a 10-day tour of Italy in August, and the John Purdue Club is inviting supporters of the program to join the team. For more information, click please visit purduesports.com.
