Purdue University North Central continues its five-year trend of breaking its enrollment records this spring semester. PNC enrolled a spring-semester record of 4,845 students, a 9.1 percent increase over last spring. The spring semester enrollment represents a 5 percent increase over the fall 2010 enrollment of 4,614 students.

Another spring semester record was shattered as students are taking a total of 49,484 credit hours, an increase of 9.02 percent over spring semester of 2010. Since 2005, PNC spring semester enrollment headcount has increased 50.8 percent - a total of 1,632 students. In addition, 86.3 percent of the first-time, full-time degree-seeking students who attended PNC during the fall semester, have returned for spring semester classes.
"We are happy to welcome a record number of students to Purdue University North Central. These students recognize that they will get a world-class Purdue education at Purdue North Central and enter the global job market with a degree that will open doors for them," said PNC Chancellor Dr. James B. Dworkin.
The number of full-time students continues to grow, with 2,720 full-time students taking 12 or more credit hours of classes. This semester, PNC minority enrollment numbered 713 students, 14.7 percent of the overall student body.
Enrollment at PNC - Porter County in Valparaiso numbers 597 students enrolled in 3,262 credit hours.
The PNC Dual credit program, that allows high-achieving high school students the opportunity to earn PNC credits while in high school, continues to be a popular option for students in 31 high schools in Porter, LaPorte, Lake, Starke and other Northwest Indiana counties. This spring, 1,080 students are enrolled in 6,098 credit hours. This represents a 50.4 percent increase from the 718 students enrolled in the spring of 2010 and a 67 percent increase in credit hours.
