The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) announced during its annual conference that the Purdue Research Foundation received a 2011 IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Award in the Annual Report category.

"We are honored to receive this award from the IEDC, which is one of the most respected economic development organizations in the world," said Joseph B. Hornett, senior vice president, treasurer and COO of the Purdue Research Foundation. "It positively reflects on the work done at the Purdue Research Foundation, which manages the Purdue Research Park network. Our goals include advancing the mission of Purdue University and stimulating the state's economy; a June 2011 report from Thomas P. Miller and Associates calculated that the Purdue Research Park network's annual economic impact on the state is $1.3 billion."

The International Economic Development Council is one of the largest professional associations of economic development practitioners in the world, with more than 4,500 members in the United States, Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and other countries.

"We recognize the Purdue Research Foundation for providing successful strategies to promote new standards in economic development in this period of global recovery," said Dennis Coleman, IEDC chair. "Our awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in communities. They demonstrate that they are at the forefront of the economic development profession and are using innovative and effective practices that can be replicated in other communities."

The Purdue Research Foundation's 2009-2010 annual report, titled "4 Locations. 200 Companies. 4,000 Indiana Jobs.", was developed to provide prospective entrepreneurs, business leaders, political leaders and key influencers with a succinct report that would promote and support economic development in Indiana. The report outlines the history, mission, goals, economic development data, economic growth, projects completed in the report's timeframe, awards and financial statements for the Foundation.

The Purdue Research Foundation received IEDC awards in three categories in 2008: Entrepreneurship, Partnerships with Educational Institutions and Technology-Based Economic Development. It also received a 2009 award in the Regionalism and Cross-border Collaboration category.
