Purdue To Face Saint Peter’s In Second Round Of NCAA Tournament

The purdue-logoPurdue men’s basketball team earned its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament berth on Sunday night, garnering a No. 3 seed in the Southwest Region from the selection committee. The Boilermakers will face Saint Peter’s on Friday in second-round action in Chicago.

Purdue has won its first game in the NCAA Tournament 12-straight times, having not lost its opening game in the Big Dance since 1993.

The Boilers will make their 25th NCAA Tournament appearance. The Boilermakers are 33-24 (.579) all-time in the tournament, with two Final Fours, three Elite Eights and eight Sweet 16s to their credit. Purdue is one of five teams across the country that has advanced to the Sweet 16 in each of the last two seasons, alongside Duke, Michigan State, Syracuse and Xavier.

Purdue’s No. 3 seed is its highest since it was a No. 2 in 1998, and its first No. 3 selection since 1995.

Purdue and Saint Peter’s have never met on the hardwood. The Boilermakers took on the champion of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Siena, in first-round action last year, and are 3-0 all-time against MAAC teams.

Game time and ticket information will be updated when available.
