Quick Trip: To the Moon

Looking for a quick evening trip to get out of town and see something different?  Empty pockets and wallet?  Wishing to take the kids too?  Here's your chance to stay close but feel far, far away with the whole family!  Purdue University North Central will host a viewing of the night sky on Friday, May 1 at 8:30 p.m. Observation through the telescope will be at the far south end of the PNC campus (1401 S. US 421, Westville, IN.  46391). The best part? The event is free and open to the public. In the event of cloudy or inclement weather, the viewing will be Saturday, May 2 at 8:30 p.m.

The public is invited to take a close-up look at some early summer constellations, see the Moon and Saturn through their 10- and 8-inch telescopes and ask astronomy questions.

Dr. Aaron Warren, PNC assistant professor of Physics, will be on hand to answer astronomy-related questions and provide descriptions of the objects being observed to make this an interactive learning experience suitable for all ages and interests.

Participants are asked to park in PNC lot 7 and walk to the viewing area near the North Central Veterinary Center.

If the weather looks questionable during the afternoon of May 1, please call Warren at (219) 785-5200 ext. 5659 or email awarren@pnc.edu to get status updates. Persons with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Warren.
