Really Excellent People: Jason Utesch

REP-jason-uteschNorthwest Indiana is a growing area of the country that welcomes many families that make their way to us. And with the families come the homes in which they must reside. So who comes in to play when it’s time to buy or sell a home? There are multiple businesses in the area, but one stands out in particular. Realty Executives Premier, located in downtown Valparaiso, gives home buyers and sellers the people, experience and knowledge to get the job done right on the first try.

And since a good business is made of good people, let me introduce you to the first person in the series, REP: Really Excellent People. His name is Jason Utesch and he is proud to be part of Realty Executives Premier.

Utesch is a real estate agent for Realty Executives Premier. His job is to represent buyers when they purchase a home and sellers when they put their home on the market. His day is often filled with different tasks like meeting with current clients, returning emails and phone calls, completing paperwork that gets homes ready for buying/selling, finding new clients, researching home trends and keeping his eye on the shifts in the real estate market.

“Each day is different which is what I love about it,” Utesch said.

Before getting into real estate, Utesch attended Valparaiso University where he obtained his law degree. He “caught the bug” as I hear many real estate agents call it, and has been in the industry for the last 10 years.

“I started at another company about five years ago and Mike [Tezak] called and asked me to come and help open the office,” Utesch said. “This job gives me more flexibility as to what I like to do and the atmosphere is wonderful. We all get along great. It’s like going to work with friends every day.”

Although the employees at Realty Executives Premier are a fun-loving and close-knit group, they also take their jobs very seriously. The high level of professionalism and willingness to go that extra distance to make a client happy really makes this business shine.

“We’re here because we want to make a living on this and we take our jobs seriously. We know what we’re doing and we stay current on things because we want to make sure that we are giving our clients the best possible service. And we immerse ourselves in it,” Utesch said. “It’s always exciting to have a buyer who is excited when they find the house that they want. The process is an exciting and rewarding experience, and often clients become friends of mine.”

Utesch went on to shed some light on a common assumption that is given to realtors.

“First, we’re not there to sell a particular home. It doesn’t matter to me what house a client buys as long as it fits their needs. Our job is to be a consultant to them and help them get what they are looking for. A lot of people think we’re there to skim off the top and we’re there to just make money and leave, but ethically and morally, that goes against everything we believe,” Utesch stated. “We’re doing a job just like everyone else. We’re not superheroes but we really do the best we can to help everyone.”

If you’re kicking around the idea of getting a new home, or you have one to sell, Utesch shared some guidance for you. He stated that in order to have the best experience possible and to get the most from your agent, do some prep work beforehand.

“If you’re a buyer, get your financing taken care of first. Know what you can afford and figure out what you like,” Utesch explained. “Sellers: make sure your house is ready to sell; make it shine before it’s listed. And make sure that you have an open mind about what others tell you about your house. And you ever need any help or you have questions or concerns, please call and make an appointment with us. We’re here to help you.”

Now you know where to go when it’s time to transition into that new dream home or when you’re looking to sell your old home. Give Realty Executives Premier a call and schedule an appointment now. With them, it’s about the destination and the journey.
