Recycle Your Aluminum Cans and Help Fund the Fight Against Cancer

relayLogoSims Metal Management is now collecting aluminum cans to benefit this year’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Duneland. Cans may be taken in through July 12, to Sims at 156 E. US Hwy. 20, Chesterton.

Sims will pay the prevailing rate for aluminum scrap and will generously match 5 cents per pound as their contribution. When cans are dropped off by teams or participants of this year’s Relay, Sims will write a check payable to the American Cancer Society which can be turned in by teams at the Relay’s bank night.

Anyone can bring in his or her aluminum cans to recycle as a donation, you don’t have to be a participant of the Relay to donate. Please mention you would like your cans turned in to a donation to the Relay for Life of Duneland and Sims Metal Management will take care of the donation check. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life to fight cancer.

The Relay For Life of Duneland will be held from noon Saturday, July 13 through 6 a.m. Sunday, July 14 at Chesterton Middle School, 651 W. Morgan Avenue. During the Society’s signature event, participants and visitors will have a chance to celebrate the victory of local cancer survivors during the Survivors Lap, remember those who have lost their battle to the disease during the poignant Luminaria Ceremony at dusk; and participate in the Fight Back Ceremony that gives everyone a chance to proclaim their way of taking action against the disease.
