Recycling Available at Popcorn Festival

recycle-greenThe City of Valparaiso is encouraging Popcorn Fest attendees to look for the event’s recycling collection containers on Festival day, Sept. 7, 2013. ClearStream recycling collection containers will be located near garbage cans throughout the festival so visitors can recycle their drink bottles and cans. The containers are the result of a partnership between the City of Valparaiso and the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County.

The city welcomes 50,000 to 55,000 participants to the Popcorn Fest each year. By encouraging recycling on this big day, we’re hoping to divert more trash from landfills and boost recycling efforts,” said Matt Evans, Director of Valparaiso’s Public Works Department. “More than 60 percent of our residents currently recycle and we’d like to give everyone an opportunity to continue their respect of the environment on Popcorn day,” he said.
