Recycling District Promotes Video Contest in 2015

Compost-piles-compressedAmerica Recycles Day is Nov. 15. To mark the date, the Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County is challenging Porter County schools and non-profits to compete in the “Recycling is Magic!” video contest.

Interested participants can tap their imaginations to create one-minute videos on the importance of recycling and how it turns materials into other useful products. Videos can motivate, entertain, educate or inspire viewers using music, drama, comedy or any other creative means.

All videos will be placed on the district’s website for public vote between Nov. 1 and Nov. 10. The school or organization with the most votes will win a new hand chair for their building.

“The sky is the limit as far as creativity goes,” said Donna Stuckert, public education coordinator for the district. “We look forward to seeing how entrants promote recycling in Porter County and, really, to the world.”

Videos and all materials must be submitted by noon on Friday, Oct. 23.

“Most everyone has access to videos and video editing capabilities, so creating a short video should be pretty fun and easy,” Stuckert said.
