As some of you know, Ideas in Motion Media will be launching our third online positive-only community with LaPorteCountyLife.com in the near future. With the launch of this new online community, we’re happy to announce that ValpoLife.com and PortageLife.com will be getting a face-lift at the same time.
The new design will be sleeker, easier to navigate, and will allow us to more efficiently highlight the best stories happening in our community. Every few days until the official launch, I will be sharing with you a neat feature on our new site that will make your perusing of good news even better.
Our goal is to make sharing good news easier for us, and finding that good news easier for you.
New Feature: A New Image Rotator
On the current version of our website, the large image rotator at the top of the home page and each of the section pages showcases what our editors feel are some of the best and most relevant stories happening in the community.
While many of the features of the new rotator remain the same, like it’s ability to highlight a particular story and link to it, some new features are in store for you:
- It’s larger! Our new image rotator will have roughly 6,000 more pixels of viewing pleasure.
- You can control it! In the past our rotator sets would appear at random and require you to wait as the automated system would rotate stories. Now you can select the speed and order of the stories!
- It's more relevant! The editor-side of the rotator will make it easier for our staff to make changes and rotate the stories in and out. As amazing and talented as we are, these things still take time!
- It's easier to read! Our new rotator will feature…drum-roll please… black text on gray background versus the current gray text on black background! I know it doesn’t sound life-altering, but it is. Oh, it is.
