Registration Open for 2016 Hockey Lessons at Central Park Plaza Ice

valpo-parksValpo Parks is offering youth hockey lessons at the Central Park Plaza ice rink under the William E. Urschel Pavilion. Children, ages 5 to 13, will learn skating and stopping, puck handling and shooting, and the fundamentals of playing hockey. Classes meet three times a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Sunday mornings for 11 weeks. The season runs November 29, 2016 to March 5, 2017; there will be no classes December 18 - January 8.

The fee is $230 per child. Hockey jersey, socks and ice skate rental are included; children may use their own skates. Participants must supply their own hockey stick, helmet with face guard, and full hockey pads.

The ice rink will open to the public for the 2016-2017 open skate season on November 14 at 6 p.m. In addition to hockey lessons and open skate, the rink will offer ice skating lessons, open hockey time, and rink rental for private events, fundraisers and birthday parties.

The Central Park Plaza Ice Rink is located at 55 Napoleon Street, Valparaiso.
